Vernon Press invites book chapters for a forthcoming edited volume on the subject of “The Role of the Average Woman Across the World during the Viking Era”
There has been a lot of misinformation among the general population on the perceived superiority of one culture over another, especially for the women of the time. This book aims to give as complete an overview as possible of the actual role of women worldwide during this era.
Inspired by a Tumblr post that asserted the role of women from one culture had it “better” than other cultures of this same period, this book aims to be a general overview to encourage the general population to question assumptions like this and come to their conclusion while providing academic scholars an idea of where more research is needed into this field of study and period. As such, the book will be compiling established and emerging experts who study the role of the average woman in different cultures worldwide during the Viking Age from 793-1066 A.D. Each chapter author would write on the topic of the role of the average woman from their chosen culture that existed during this period. The book will be separated by continent. Continents with a large amount of cultural variation will look for two to three larger cultures from
across the continent and feature smaller cultures when the book length allows.
