Vernon Press invites book chapter proposals to be included in a forthcoming edited book on “Notation in Baroque Performance Practice.”
Contributions to the book are welcome on all areas of performance notation in the late seventeenth to early eighteenth century and its implications on modern performance practices. This can include the interpretation of notation systems or applications of notation in modern performance settings. The proposed book aims to highlight how the interpretation and application of notation systems can lead to more historically informed baroque performances.
Topics can include, but are not limited to:
Modern notation systems in the performance of eighteenth-century music, dance, or drama
Dance Notation Systems
Music Notation
Gestural Notation
Basso Continuo
Notated Ornaments and Expressive Devices
If you are interested in contributing to this edited book, please send your abstract (300-500 words) and a short biography (100-150 words) to the book editor, Aimee Brown, at aimee.brown3@outlook.com by January 20th, 2024.
