Call for Book Chapters: "Innovative Approaches to the Use of Narrative in Health Communication Research"

Vernon Press invites book chapters for an edited volume on the subject of new and innovative research in the use of narratives in health communication.

Narratives can be used as a powerful tool to deliver health messages by discussing emotions, past histories, and experiences, and providing a deeper understanding of health encounters. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential to have a better understanding of how narratives can be used in more innovative manners to improve the effectiveness of health communication. This book welcomes a variety of perspectives and research methods to discuss the implications of using different approaches to narrative medicine. Interdisciplinary research is also strongly encouraged to submit.

Possible topics include:

  • AI and Healthcare
  • Gaming in health communication
  • Telemedicine (issues with remote patient monitoring, privacy issues, patient dissatisfaction)
  • Gene therapy/Biogenetics
  • Health Information Sharing
  • Patient Empowerment
  • Cancer narratives
  • Diabetes
  • Pregnancy loss and grief narratives
  • Vaccine hesitancy and narratives
  • Family dynamics in health communication
  • HIV and AIDs Stigma and social support
  • Health Campaigns
  • Mental health and stress
