Call for Proposals – Monographs or Edited Volumes on The Economics of Global Change
Vernon Press, an academic publisher in the social sciences and humanities, is now accepting submissions for its Economics Series. As the world contends with escalating debt levels, technological disruption, climate imperatives and other important issues, there is an urgent need for interdisciplinary economic research that offers clarity, critique, and policy insight.
This call welcomes contributions from economists, policy scholars, political scientists, and interdisciplinary researchers. We encourage both theoretical and empirical approaches, including comparative, regional, and global perspectives.
Why Economics Matters Today
The global economy stands at a critical juncture. Over the past decade—and particularly in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the face of growing geopolitical instability—long-standing economic assumptions have been disrupted. Public and private debt levels are reaching historic highs, central banks are grappling with inflationary pressures, and the fiscal capacity of states is increasingly constrained. Simultaneously, the rise of digital currencies is challenging the foundations of conventional monetary systems, while climate change demands a rapid reallocation of investment toward sustainable and resilient infrastructures.
These concurrent transformations are unfolding against a backdrop of growing political polarization, uneven economic recovery, technological disruption, and deepening social inequality. At the national and subnational level, governments are navigating fiscal crises, strained healthcare systems, and rising voter dissatisfaction. In this shifting landscape, scholars are called to re-examine the frameworks that have traditionally structured economic thought and policy.
