Call for Book Chapters: "The Philosophy of Forgiveness Vol. 6"
Vernon Press invites book chapter proposals for the next volume (6) in its series on the Philosophy of Forgiveness.
Previous volumes have explored questions related to several other domains, including the psychological, the interpersonal, and the religious. See previous volumes in the series.
Volume 6 will explore forgiveness in politics, law, and war. At this time, we are specifically looking for essays directly or indirectly related to the topic of war, such as what role forgiveness plays in peace negotiations, whether some wartime atrocities are beyond the possibility of forgiveness, and whether forgiveness is compatible with remembering the past.
Topics tangentially related to forgiveness and war will also be considered, such as anger, truth, memory, and post-traumatic stress.
Contributions from fields outside philosophy are welcome, e.g., psychology, political science, etc., but they should be written with a philosophical audience in mind.
Chapters should be approximately 6,000 words in length.
Chapters are likely to include:
- Forgiveness and Peace Negotiations
- The Limits of Forgiveness in Wartime Atrocities
- Remembering the Past: Forgiveness and Memory
- Anger, Truth, and Post-Traumatic Stress in Forgiveness
- Philosophical Perspectives and Interdisciplinary Approaches
Please send chapter proposals (not to exceed 300 words) accompanied by a short C.V. to Dr. Gregory Bock at gbock@uttyler.edu by September 30, 2025.
