Call for Proposals – Exclusion, Cognition, and Neurodiversity: Understanding the Mental Worlds of Neurodivergent Individuals
Vernon Press invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit book proposals on the topic of Exclusion, Cognition, and Neurodiversity. This is an excellent opportunity to publish research on neurodiversity, cognitive processes, and inclusive practices with a leading academic publisher.
Why Submit a Proposal?
Every individual is a particular human being. It’s very difficult to understand why humanity behaves in one way or another in spaces such as work, school, the house etc. Neurodiversity reminds us that these differences are not flaws to be corrected, but variations in how our brains process, interpret, and respond to the world around us.
Timely and accurate diagnosis, whether in childhood or adulthood, can be life-changing. For many adults, receiving a diagnosis offers long-awaited clarity about their experiences, strengths, and challenges, and can open access to resources, accommodations, and self-advocacy tools. Yet, the path to diagnosis often remains fraught with misunderstanding, bias, and systemic barriers.
Equally important is cultivating a deeper awareness of how neurodivergent people perceive and interpret the world. These perspectives, far from being deficits, expand our collective understanding of human cognition and offer unique contributions to education, work, creativity, and community life.
Recent research trends
In recent years, research has deepened our understanding of neurodivergent cognition and its implications for education, employment, and daily life. Studies on sensory processing differences have shown how environmental factors can either overwhelm or enable focus and creativity. Investigations into executive functioning have revealed patterns in planning, task-switching, and working memory that differ from neurotypical norms but also bring unique problem-solving approaches.
Recent research in cognitive sciences and neurodiversity highlights:
-
Sensory processing differences that influence focus, creativity, and daily functioning
-
Executive functioning patterns that provide unique problem-solving approaches
-
The impact of educational, social, and workplace environments on neurodivergent inclusion
By publishing your research on neurodiversity, you contribute to a growing academic and public understanding of cognition, exclusion, and inclusive practices.
