About the BRILS Initiative
The Bridging Languages and Scholarship (BRILS) series seeks to extend the reach of selected titles by offering translations into other languages and supporting the production of multilingual and translingual texts.
One of the first books translated under BRILS is City of Children (La Ciudad de los Niños) by Francesco Tonucci, a renowned intellectual and 2019 UNICEF Spanish Committee award recipient.
BRILS continues and expands upon Vernon Press’ earlier Bridging Languages and Scholarship (BLS) initiative, driven by the recognition that excellent scholarship is produced in many languages, and that linguistic barriers often limit scholarly exchange.
In the spirit of translingual scholarship, BRILS supports authors who wish to:
-
Publish translations of academic works into English or Spanish
-
Promote linguistic diversity and multilingual publishing
-
Bridge disciplines, regions, and research perspectives
