Call for Book Proposals – Monographs or Edited Volumes on Heritage Studies
Vernon Press invites book proposals for edited volumes, co-authored books, and single-author monographs on Heritage Studies.
A branch of Cultural Studies and, it may be argued, an extension of Postcolonial Studies, Heritage Studies has become of great interest within academic circles in the last decades. All around the world, universities offer study and research programmes specifically focused on this field, including other subjects such as Memory Studies or Conservation Studies. This implies that far from being a minority field, Heritage Studies continues to grow, and thus scholarship in this area is constantly being written.
Heritage Studies is now, more than ever, a crucial field of study: in a rapidly changing (and often in conflict) society, this area may help us to understand the present and improve our future by reinterpreting or rewriting the past, and so come to terms with the fact that the world we live in is a consequence of what happened before—even if the same event may be interpreted in different ways. Another advantage Heritage Studies has is that it is a decidedly interdisciplinary field: art history, architecture, history, archaeology, politics, and sociology—to name a few—are subjects that have input within Heritage Studies.
All proposals focused on exploring any aspect of Heritage Studies are encouraged to be submitted.
Possible contributions include (but are not limited to):
- Politics of Heritage
- Cultural Heritage and Law
- Heritage and Public Spaces
- Building an Identity Through Heritage
- Heritage and Conservation
- Heritage as Business?
- Conservation Studies
- Heritage and Collective Memory
- The Ethics of Heritage
