Call for Book Chapters: Community Structures and Processes on Lives of Refugee Children

Children around the world are "on the move" into other countries. Children (defined by the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as anyone under age 18) may travel to new countries on their own and unaccompanied by guardians or parents; they may be immigrants, asylum-seekers, or refugees who are fleeing adverse situations in hopes of finding better lives in new nations. Some children may arrive with parents or guardians and be separated from them in the process.

The physical, emotional, social, and educational well-being of children hangs in the balance of how welcoming nations address their needs. Communities vary in the way they provide resources to these children, and there are both short and long term implications of community response.

We are accepting submissions for an edited book entitled Community Structures and Processes on Lives of Refugee Children. Chapters should showcase variability in community institutions and how they process children and provide resources to them.

Topics may include (but are not limited to):

  • Refugee Community Resilience
  • Education
  • Social Services
  • HealthCare
  • Law
  • Communication and Media
  • Social integration, citizenship, and community engagement

Deadline for abstract submissions: January 15, 2021

Full chapter submissions due: June 1, 2021
