Call for Book Chapters: "Teaching Italian verbs to FL students at the University level"

Vernon Press cordially invites scholars to submit book chapter proposals for a forthcoming scholarly volume titled "Teaching Italian Verbs to Foreign Language Students at the University Level," edited by Alberto Regagliolo.

The volume aims to explore various aspects of teaching the Italian language to foreign students within the university setting. A key focus lies in imparting grammar and pragmatics, with dedicated hours each week to ensure students can actively practice, comprehend, and enhance their linguistic skills. "Teaching and Learning Italian Verbs to FL Students at the University Level" centers on the teaching of verbs. Each chapter will delve into a specific type of verb, commencing with a theoretical analysis, encompassing its usage, available teaching materials, resources, proficiency levels, and challenges.
Most importantly, each chapter will propose practical and effective methodologies for classroom implementation. It is crucial to note that the chapters should abstain from delving into case studies, personal experiences, or project-based approaches. Instead, they should be conceived as adaptable models, applicable across various university systems and contexts.

Potential chapter topics may include but are not limited to:

  • Verbi sintagmatici
  • Verbi fraseologici, servili e ausiliari
  • Verbi copulativi
  • Verbi impersonali, riflessivi, reciproci
  • Verbi pronominali
  • Verbi difettivi e sovrabbondanti
  • Verbi transitivi e intransitivi
  • Verbi irregolari
  • Verbi metereologici
  • Verbi tematici
  • Modi finiti e non finiti: frasi esplicite e implicite
  • Verbi nelle parole composte
  • Reggenze verbali

Prospective authors are kindly requested to submit their chapter proposals by December 12, 2023 (abstract, 150 words and a bio note, 200 words).
Each proposal should provide a concise abstract outlining the main themes and objectives of the chapter.
Acceptance notifications will be sent out by 31 January, 2024, and the final chapters will be expected by December 1, 2024.
For further details and submission guidelines, reach out to the volume's editor, Alberto Regagliolo, at a.regagliolo@uksw.edu.pl.
We eagerly await your innovative proposals, which promise to advance the effective teaching of Italian verbs to foreign language students at the university level.
Should your proposal be accepted, the target range of the chapter would be approximately 5,000-10,000 words.

This proposal is due on December 12th 2023.
