James P. Bruce

Jim Bruce, or James Patrick as he was christened, was born in Dublin, Ireland. After spending the greater part of his adult life in banking, he set up Customers for Life Ltd. in 1997, where he supported organisations as an independent consultant, bringing the voice of the customer to the forefront of their businesses. In 2005, Jim decided to combine his research skills with his love of writing and spent the following two years working on a biography of Brian Cleeve, an Irish author and broadcaster, who was also a mentor and friend. Researching the book involved many hours in libraries and archives, which led to his enrollment at Trinity College Dublin in 2008. He graduated with a BA in History and later moved to University College Dublin, where he completed an MA in the History of Religion and Society. In 2019 he was awarded an MLitt by the University of Oxford for his thesis on James Fintan Lalor. Jim continues to write for both general and academic audiences and is currently developing a podcast series on Ireland.
